lady antebellum country music awards 325 nc Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott celebrates her birthday at the 2012 ACMsHillary Scott is having a very good year.

The newlywed recently collected her seventh Grammy Award — along with her partners in country music’s Lady Antebellum — for the album “Own the Night,” and the trio could grab more honors in the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. They have five bids including vocal group of the year in the event, which CBS televises Sunday, April 1 … Scott’s birthday, it so happens.

“It’s been a really amazing year so far,” she tells Zap2it. “I’m feeling really blessed. When these nominations came out, we were so completely shocked. We’ve been so focused on our third album and especially the tour that we’ve got going on; it’s one of those things where you just put your head down and work, work, work.”

Still, Nashville native Scott and her Lady Antebellum-mates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood have grown accustomed to being at award shows. “The ACMs have such a special place in our hearts,” Scott notes, “because that’s the first award we ever won. They’ve been nothing but fantastic to us. It’s always such a fun show, too; it’s in Las Vegas, and there’s just a whole lively energy there that you can’t get anywhere else.”

That energy is certain to be amped up for Lady Antebellum should the trio win any of the categories in which it’s nominated. The others are album of the year, as both artists and producers, for “Own the Night” and song of the year and video of the year for “Just a Kiss.”

“We were obviously hoping that the new record would be embraced,” Scott reflects, “but that’s just like the last one (‘Need You Now’), which is the one everybody is familiar with. You’re always afraid that the prior record is the one that will define you … which is OK with us in a way, but as songwriters and artists, we’re growing. And to feel that stamp of approval from our peers is nice.”

And the current Lady Antebellum tour rolls on, heading to Europe this summer. “There are times,” says Scott, “when I can’t believe we’ve been in all of these places and done all of these things.”
