The first trailer for “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” Season 3 is here, courtesy of Marvel Entertainment.

The biggest reveal in the 30-second teaser is the debut of Matt Willig as new Inhuman Lash. As the voiceover promises, he is a thread that is “beyond belief.” That Lash is seen only in shadows is indicative of his role this season; he’s a mysterious new force on the series who is described as a “wild card.”

“He’s going to shake things up,” “SHIELD” star Elizabeth Henstridge previously told Zap2it. “It’s going to be a huge spectacle. We’re so honored to be able to have him in the show. It’s just huge. I can’t even explain how crazy it’s going to get.”

Also highlighted in the promo is Chloe Bennet’s transformation from Skye to a short-haired Daisy Johnson. She’ll be fully embracing her birth name in Season 3, and clearly is settling in well to her role as the head of Secret Warriors who travels around the world (with Henry Simmons’ Mack and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter) to find new Inhumans triggered by the spread of the Terrigen Crystals.

Noticeably absent from the trailer, though, is Henstridge’s Jemma Simmons. After Season 2’s cliffhanger ending that saw her sucked up into the Kree Stone, Simmons has been MIA. Season 3 picks up with a time jump of several months, and Henstridge promised it won’t take too long for viewers to learn where she’s been.

“It’s not something that will be strung out too long,” Henstridge said in early August. “I think the repercussions of it will be a huge part of this season, and that will be a bit more of a slow burn, as will the Inhumans, Daisy and Mack are heading up that team.”

“Agents of SHIELD” Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
