It may be a new year, but for Martin Riggs (Clayne Crawford) and Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans), crime never takes time off. And in Wednesday's (Jan. 4) episode "Homebodies," the duo investigate the murder of an up-and-coming designer drug dealer -- and wind up in the middle of a violent turf war in the process.

In the above exclusive clip, Riggs & Murtaugh find themselves in the living space of a woman by the name of Owlsly (Lyndon Smith). By all accounts, it looks like she has chosen the life of a recluse -- the clutter and empty bottles around her loft, mixed with her disdain of public life is a big clue here.

But unfortunately, she witnessed the altercation which put drug dealer Adam (Will Brandt) on a local Koreatown gang's radar -- and now, she's the only lead Riggs and Murtaugh seem to have. Unfortunately, their attempt at getting Owlsly to the police station, with the intention of identifying the perp in question, finds them walking directly into some unexpected danger.

As you can see, things don't go according to plan. Owlsly's hypothesis turned out being correct after all -- she should've never gone outside!

It's one thing to live a life rife with anxiety, avoiding contact with the general public as much as possible -- but leave it up to our heroes to lead their witness directly into a gun fight. Better luck next time?

"Lethal Weapon" airs Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
