It's a scenario that rings true for many Americans -- in Thursday's (Nov. 19) Thanksgiving episode of "Life in Pieces," colorfully titled, "Godparent Turkey Corn Farts," another unassuming turkey is ruined.

In Zap2it's exclusive clip, a panicked Heather (Betsy Brandt) exits the kitchen in a hurry to rouse Tim (Dan Bakkedahl) from watching football. With a list of problems stemming from the ruined turkey to the inevitable judgment she will receive from her mother Joan (Dianne Wiest), she pleads with her husband to get his butt off the couch and to the store to find a worthy replacement.

Being a time sensitive issue, Heather makes sure to instill into his head that the bird in question needs to be at least 16 pounds and not have any sort of chemicals in it ... unless they're the type of chemicals that make her seem like a better cook.

Tim may have made a list, but he's off to a rough start getting to his destination as he forgets his car keys. Well, it looks like this Thanksgiving is already off to an interesting start.

Check in with "Life in Pieces" every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. PT/ET on CBS.
