“Lip Sync Battle” returned on Thursday (June 2) with two heavy hitters — “Archer’s” Aisha Tyler and basketball great Shaquille O’Neal — competing for the prized belt. How exactly did they decide to pair these two up? Well with “Archer’s” finale and the NBA Finals currently on everyone’s mind, that may be reason enough.

Needless to say, the two performers came out with guns blazing. It feels like it’d be difficult to top Tyler’s strip poker-themed rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” but if anyone can defeat the comedian, it’s Shaq.

Sure, Tyler came with shiny backup dancers … and sure, she gave her all in the performance including some well choreographed crowd surfing, but it’s a tried and true formula to have masculine celebrities dress in drag on the show and Mr. O’Neal did just that.

Sporting his best Jennifer Beals leggings and wig, Shaq danced his way through Michael Sembello’s 1983 classic, “Maniac.” It wasn’t as flashy or creative as Tyler’s performance. Then again, Tyler didn’t have water dumped on her at the very end. Lesson learned.

“Lip Sync Battle” airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Spike TV.
