This is the greatest thing you will watch all week, folks. Louis C.K. was on Tuesday’s (April 7) “Tonight Show,” and he springs a story on Jimmy Fallon that was not vetted by Fallon first. At least, Fallon’s reaction seems very spontaneous and real, so it seems legit.

The story is that when C.K. was a writer on “The Dana Carvey Show” back in 1996, they were auditioning actors. Despite being canceled very early on, the show boasted the likes of Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert and Robert Smigel and featured appearances by Jan Hooks and Phil Hartman, among others. So it had a lot of heavy comedic hitters.

Fallon was one of the auditioners. And, well … Louis C.K. pretty much totally hated him. He threatened to quit if they hired Fallon. You can hear the full story in the video above.

The rest of C.K.’s interview is below, because he’s a delightfully wry and blunt late-night guest. He’s got a poop story, he’s got stories about struggling out on the road trying to make it as a comedian. It’s really a great interview.

C.K.’s FX show “Louie” returns Thursday (April 9) on FX.
