It’s true that “American Crime Story” has given viewers an in-depth look into the O.J Simpson trial, but now Marcia Clark is willing to fill in the blanks about why exactly she ended up losing the case and O.J walked free in a new interview with “Dateline NBC.”
One of the most surprising reasons she gave for the loss was the lack of testimony from Kris Jenner.
The Kardashian matriarch was Nicole Brown’s best friend at the time of her murder, and Jenner told police that Brown was worried Simpson would kill her.
Unfortunately, Jenner was never called to the stand because according to Clark it was only hearsay. “I couldn’t put it in. [But] I would have been happy to put her on the stand; she would have been a great witness.”
Clark says other missteps in the trial include the glove debacle, which coined the famous phrase, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit.”
She also makes reference to the testimony of LAPD detective Mark Fuhrman and the heavy suspicion of evidence tampering. It didn’t help that when asked on the stand if he planted evidence, Fuhrman chose to plead the fifth.
“People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
