Hit FYI reality show "Married at First Sight" returns Tuesday (Dec. 1) with its third season of matching couples who marry one another upon their first meeting. Zap2it had a chance to speak with two of the contestants, Vanessa Nelson and David Norton, prior to the show's premiere.

While Zap2it can neither confirm nor deny whether Vanessa and David are a couple on the show -- for that, tune into the matchmaking special and premiere episode -- we can reveal what inspired them to take part in this wild experiment in the first place.

"I've been watching the show since the first season. It definitely inspired me to apply to this and take the chance," says Nelson. "I really was inspired by some of the couples and their successes and how the experts put so much work into making these matches. They care so much about everyone that's involved. I love the show, I loved the process."

Norton, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. He had no idea what he was getting into.

"I didn't know what the show was until I started to go through the casting process," he says. "Even then, I wanted to not know what to expect, so I was just watching Season 2 as it happened. I didn't watch Season 1 until after I was married."

As for Season 3 itself, Vanessa and David are playing coy about offering up too many details. But David sum it up nicely with, "Expect the unexpected."

Vanessa elaborates, "Our situations are so different from previous seasons. You'll get to see some new experiences. We're just humans trying to find someone we can love and be in love with, so even though there are lots of ups and downs, these are things that happen in any marriage, so I think that people will relate to them."

"Married at First Sight" returns with a special three-hour premiere Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FYI and A&E.
