The Dish Rag will be watching Hollywood’s hottest TV stars arrive at pre-Emmy parties tonight. But the brightest stellar event will be overhead.

Mars will outshine everything in the sky tonight for the first time in 5,000 years.  And it may not happen again for another 60,000 years.

Experts who know about such things say this happens because of the way Jupiter’s gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit. Or something like that. So look up, folks. Stop watching prime time TV tonight. Go outside, look up and marvel at the mysterious and vast universe we live in.
