Upon winning New Artist of the Year at the 2014 Country Music Association Awards, Brett Eldredge covered his face in disbelief and then gave the cutest acceptance speech of the night:
“Oh my lord. I remember a few years ago, I got here so early … that I was the only person sitting down here. I was so excited to get here and I was just dreaming about what it would be like to be up here. Thank you guys so, so much.”
If you don’t know Eldredge, he is 28 years old and hails from Paris (Illinois, that is). He’s also the cousin of bluegrass group The Grascals’ guitar/vocalist Terry Eldredge. His debut album dropped in August 2013 and he went on to open for Taylor Swift on her “Red” tour.
