The first eight minutes of MTV’s “Scream” TV series have arrived — and they waste no time getting to the bloodshed
In a scene that feels very much like an updated version of Drew Barrymore’s iconic murder in the first film in the slasher series, Bella Thorne gets brutally stabbed in the show’s first few minutes. Much like Barrymore was the biggest star of the 1997 slasher hit film, the series is also killing off its most recognizable name to cause a splash.
While the TV series is not a direct continuation of the movie franchise that spawned four slasher flicks, it makes sure to keep familiar elements involved. Thorne’s murder at the top is just one of them
There will also be a student “expert” on serial killers who will explain the rules of the show, and Willa Fitzgerald will play Emma Duval — the show’s troubled lead star that’s just trying to survive high school a la Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott.
The “Scream” TV series premieres Tuesday, June 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
