Pauley Perrette is more than just a talented actress. The “NCIS” star is also a musician, and she debuted her latest song for “Entertainment Tonight” Friday (Feb. 13). “Beautiful Child” is a heartfelt ballad with a serious message, which Perrette says she hopes may save the lives of kids out there who feel lost and helpless.
“[‘Beautiful Child’] is to inform young kids out there (especially the LGBT kids, which are four times more likely to commit suicide) to let them know that there is a resource out there and that resource is The Trevor Project,” Perrette tells “Entertainment Tonight.”
The Trevor Project is a non-profit organization founded to focus on preventing suicide in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. The free and confidential help line is the only nationwide crisis line available around the clock to LGBTQ kids.
Perrette adds that she was personally inspired to write the song after the young brother of a friend of hers committed suicide. “I did what I have to do to deal with those emotions and I wrote a song about it, then I called in this unbelievable group of people.”
The group in questions includes Lance Bass, “Criminal Minds” star Kirsten Vangsness and Perrette’s “NCIS” co-star Michael Weatherly, who plays piano for Perrette on a number of songs.
She is currently working on an album, but says she wanted to get this song released to “get more and more people aware and to save lives.”
