In this new promo for the upcoming season of “The Bachelorette,” ABC bills the season as: 2 bachelorettes, 25 guys, 50 shades of cray.

Which is not wrong, as one guy shows up dressed as a giant cupcake, which — even if that was the only crazy thing that happened on night one, it would still be enough to make this one of the crazier premiere episodes.

Even more noteworthy is that when Chris Harrison reveals that there’s going to be a vote for which bachelorette is staying, fan-favorite Kaitlyn Bristowe speaks the truth when she says, “I just don’t feel like this is how I should have to do it.”

Preach, sister.

Instead of doing what Zap2it suggested by having two bachelorettes look for love side-by-side all season, the show declared both Kaitlyn and Britt Nilsson as co-“Bachelorettes.” Except by putting it to a vote on the first night, one girl is the “Bachelorette” for like five minutes. It’s not fair.

ABC should have either chosen only one of them or made it a true dual season.

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead

Now it turns out that the girl who is not chosen by the 25 bachelors is not immediately put on a plane and sent home. She is still part of the season, but not in the same way as the girl who is chosen — and that’s unfair in it’s own right, but that’s a discussion best left for the premiere night.

“The Bachelorette” premieres Monday, May 18 at on ABC.
