“New Girl” is back Jan. 7 and there’s a new woman in Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) life. The main question being — will this new love mean the end for him and Cece (Hannah Simone)?
Schmidt gets fed up with ongoing construction outside the loft, plus the workers frequently creeping on him while moisturizing. To fix it he tries to prove to Jess (Zooey Deschanel) it is better to be a shark, not a dolphin by voicing their concerns at a city council meeting.
It is there “New Girl’s” resident playboy meets his match in Councilwoman Fawn Moscato (Zoe Lister Jones).
“She’s a bada**. A bada** on TV and a bada** in real life,” Greenfield tells Zap2it about both the character and the actress. “Initially I’m trying to get one over on her because I’ve got some issues at the loft. Quickly viewers will realize Fawn is much smarter than Schmidt, which is not really saying much.”
It becomes clear fast that Moscato is calling all the shots, but Schmidt seems pretty OK with being groomed to live life as councilwoman arm candy. At first the attraction seems all about the physical. “They get sexual very quickly,” Greenfield confesses.
Moscato will reportedly be in several episodes, so Cece and Schmidt fans should keep eyes on the blossoming couple. Schmidt could easily get very comfortable in life as a kept man.
“It’s hard not to like Fawn Moscato, so I think Cece is OK with it,” Greenfield says. “Eventually she might turn on her, but we haven’t shot anything like that yet.”
“New Girl” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
