Caroline Ford and Colin O'Donoghue on Once Upon a Time

When “Once Upon a Time” ended its fall 2015 run, it set up a trip to hell for Emma and Co. as they try to rescue Hook from the Underworld. Greg Germann has been cast as Hades, the character from Greek mythology who presides over the Underworld. In addition to “Ally McBeal” alum Germann, however, fans can also look forward to seeing some old faces return.

Speaking to a small group of supporters at the 2016 TCA winter press tour, ABC president Paul Lee praises “Once Upon a TIme” creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis for their inventive new arc for the show.

“The next theme coming is going to be great, because Hades gives us a chance to bring back so many of the people that we’ve lost,” says Lee, adding that despite “Once Upon a TIme” dipping a bit in the ratings, he sees the future as “bright.”

“[Adam and Eddie] are so inventive. These great shows with strong franchises, they ebb and flow as you go through, but each of their arcs, they bring a new theme in,” says Lee. “So I think ‘Once Upon a Time’ has a long and bright future.”
