Mark those calendars, “Outlander” fans. Starz has not only announced the Season 2 premiere date, but it has also released a sneak peek at the “red dress” Claire (Caitriona Balfe) wears that sets Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) pulse racing.
Thursday (Feb. 11) Starz revealed that “Outlander” Season 2 will premiere Saturday, April 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. A bit of trivia — the air date of the second episode of Season 2 is the 270th anniversary of the Battle of Culloden.
“Outlander’s” second season, based on Diana Gabaldon’s second book in the series, “Dragonfly in Amber,” will be 13 episodes. The network also released a new trailer to go along with the premiere date and key art.
The photo that accompanied the announcement features Claire and Jamie on the steps of Versailles, “armed with political savvy and the finest 1700s Parisian fashion as they embark on their new mission — infiltrating the French aristocracy and rewriting history.”
“Armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead [in Scotland], Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising, and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it.”
