The tears are already flowing over the upcoming end to “Parks and Recreation,” but the silver lining is being able to see the increasing list of favorites from the past six seasons making their return.
However, there are a few names missing from the announced list that it would be epic to see return for even a scene or two before “Parks and Rec” officially says goodbye. Showrunner Mike Schur has already confessed there are going to be a few reappearances that he wants to keep a secret for fans. Well, Zap2it has a few suggestions on who those surprises should be.
Mona-Lisa & Dr. Saperstein (Jenny Slate & Henry Winkler)
Who are they: Mona Lisa is Jean-Ralphio’s (Ben Schwartz) twin sister and Dr. Saperstein is their gynecologist father.
Why they should return: Jean-Ralphio has already been confirmed to return with “major changes” having taken place for him during the time jump. However, the responsibility shirking fan favorite can only be at his “woooooooorst” with his twin sister at his side, and Daddy Saperstein there to bail them out.
Orin (Eric Isenhower)
Who are they: Orin is April’s (Aubrey Plaza) super gothic best friend from high school that gives Leslie (Amy Poehler) the super creeps.
Why he should return: In the early seasons of “Parks and Rec” Orin’s creepiness was a regular joke, used to scare Leslie out of her skin in any given scene tag. What has he been up to since April got married? Is he still equally creepy or has he reformed and settled down with a wife or husband of his own?
Greg Pikitis (Cody Klop)
Who are they: Leslie’s arch nemesis in the days before Ingrid de Forest (Kristen Bell) — he just also happens to be in high school.
Why he should return: Leslie always needs a challenge. After the time jump Pikitis should be close to finishing college. Perhaps he gets an internship with the National Park Service just to make Leslie’s life miserable.
Joe (Keegan-Michael Key)
Who are they: Donna’s (Retta) love interest that seems too perfect for her to settle down with.
Why he should return: This has less to do with the character and more to do with the fact that Keegan-Michael Key is awesome and any chance to see more of him on TV is highly encouraged. Plus, who doesn’t want to get the guy that can settle down with Donna Meagle a little bit more?
Dave Sanderson (Louis C.K.)
Who are they: Leslie’s ex-boyfriend Dave that moved away but Leslie wasn’t ready to follow.
Why he should return: Dave came back once already to have a face-off with Ben (Adam Scott) that did not turn out well, especially considering Ben’s fear of cops. But when you have a name as big as Louis C.K. it seems like a missed opportunity not to check in with Dave to see how he’s doing in a life post-Leslie.
Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider)
Who are they: Former City Planner in Pawnee and ex-boyfriend to Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones). He had a brief fling with Leslie but after years of pining, she ultimately turned him down and he moved on — and off the show.
Why he should return: Mark was such a central part of the show in the first two seasons and then moved on without really being heard from again. Bringing him back in the last few episodes as audiences say goodbye to Pawnee would be a great way to help bring the show full circle.
The final season premiere of “Parks and Rec” airs Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
