james woods ray donovan newscom 325 'Ray Donovan's' James Woods has slept with everyone in the businessZap2it: You’re acclaimed as an actor — and can currently be seen on Showtime’s “Ray Donovan” as Patrick “Sully” Sullivan, who has a complicated history with Hollywood fixer Ray’s (Liev Schreiber) extended family — but you’re also known as a poker player. Does that mean you’re a professional gambler?

James Woods: I’m actually not. I used to be before I started playing poker. There’s no gambling in poker. You engineer your own odds. There are no professional roulette players; there are millions of professional poker players.

Zap2it: How many of the “Ray Donovan” cast did you know before taking the job?

James Woods: I know everybody. I’ve been in this business for 150 years. If I had to guess, I know every single person. I’ve slept with most of them, some of them women.

Zap2it: How’s your relationship with Schreiber?

James Woods: He’s great, and I’m a big admirer. He kept guessing what movie we were in together, where we had worked together. He said, “Kicked in the Head.” I said, “It wasn’t that.” We had to look up on IMDB to see what we did together.

Zap2it: Do you have a regret from your long career?

James Woods: I wish I’d been more like Warren Beatty and [Robert] Redford and those guys. They took their ability to star in a movie and also produce. I was so busy working movie to movie to movie that I didn’t do what every young artist must do now. If you talk to a young actor, and she says, “I can’t get a part,” “Well, write it.” And they do.
