“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Yolanda Foster and music producer/songwriter David Foster became the latest TV couple to file for divorce Tuesday (Dec. 2) after nine years together.
Heather Dubrow (“The Real Housewives of Orange County”) and husband Terry Dubrow (“Botched”) share that they sympathize with their reality show colleagues in wake of their announcement during the the Sixth Annual Tree Lighting to Commemorate World AIDS Day at The Abbey in West Hollywood.
“When we hear about people splitting up, I get very sad. But what it does for me is make me go, ‘Okay, what do we need to work on, what are we doing right?’ because I don’t want to be a statistic,” Heather admits to Zap2it on the red carpet. “We love each other and we have struggles like everyone else does.”
Terry says that people have patterns that are tough to break — including divorce. Yolanda will make David’s fourth ex-wife after their divorce becomes final.
“If you have a history of being married and divorced a lot, then you get married and divorced so it’s not tragic,” Terry reasons. “I think people have patterns and when you get into your thirties, forties and fifties, your patterns are pretty set.”
His wife later later points out, “I just feel like when you’re on ‘Real Housewives,’ I consider it sorority sisters in different chapters and so I have an affinity for all of them and I feel for them.”
The two say their secret to surviving a long-lasting marriage in the spotlight is quite simple.
“Separate bathrooms,” suggests Heather. Her husband talks about working together over the past years. “Our secret is communicating, pick your battles wisely and be grateful for each other,” Terry reveals.
“I mean it’s really easy for me to be grateful for this,” he says motioning to his wife. “How does a guy like me get this?”
