seth meyers late night with seth meyers nbc 1 Seth Meyers 'less precious' about 'Late Night' than 'Saturday Night Live'

Zap2it: You’ve been at your current job on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” for six months now. How do you think it’s going?
Seth Meyers: Well, you always want to keep improving, but the great thing about doing “Late Night” as opposed to doing “SNL” is just the fact that you get to do it every night. It’s been wonderful. I think that helps the learning curve so much to be out there. And I certainly, because of that, feel more comfortable every show … which hopefully is showing.
We’re happy, I think, where we are — which is crazy, because that would be three and a half seasons of “SNL,” so it’s great how fast it moves. It just makes sense to be less precious about it because of the fact that you have to do it the next day, and the show the next day will not go well if you are sort of lamenting how the one before went.
Zap2it: On Monday, Aug. 25, you’re hosting The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on NBC. What are your own favorite shows these days?
Seth Meyers: I really enjoyed “Fargo” and “True Detective,” for things that were new. I was really happy for “Key & Peele” and “Inside Amy Schumer”; those were two shows that I was so happy to see get recognized in the nomination process. “Portlandia” is one of my favorite shows.
I Ioved “Mad Men” and “Game of Thrones” this year, and “Breaking Bad” was great. I do watch television more than I watch movies these days, and I don’t think I’m in the minority there.
