One of the more eagerly-embraced TV panels at New York Comic Con was ABC Family’s upcoming “Shadowhunters,” based on the immensely popular “The Mortal Instruments” books. From executive producer McG (“Chuck”), the show features werewolves, warlocks, vampires — and a whole bunch of good-looking young stars.
Now, you can immerse yourself in the “Shadowhunters” world for the first time, as the network has released 3 minutes of the show — the same footage that was unveiled earlier today (Oct. 10) to rapturous applause from the NYCC crowd (additional footage can be seen here). The clip begins in a dark alley, with all sorts of supernatural creatures getting their creep on.
Check out Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus, who clearly has his eye on Clary (Katherine McNamara). Meet Alec (Matthew Daddario) and Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia), two new butt-kicking characters. Alberto Rosende also gets a chance to shine as Simon, Clary’s geeky best friend.
“The biggest thing we brought to Jace is his arrogance and his contempt for his own mortality,” Dominic Sherwood said at the panel about his character, the best Shadowhunter of his time. “We find out that Jace can be a little vulnerable at times, but it’s later on in the season, so you’re going to have to watch.”
Peeking into the Shadow World, there are truly some creepy, eye-popping displays of power to be glimpsed. "Shadowhunters" premieres Jan. 12 alongside the much-anticipated Season 6b of "Pretty Little Liars" on ABC Family.
