Nearly a month after accidentally crowning the wrong Miss Universe in the index-card-misread heard ’round the world, Steve Harvey is finally opening up. The host has Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez on his talk show in back-to-back episodes set to air next week, and in preview clips, an emotional Harvey admits he has lost sleep over his blunder.

“This has caused a lot of sleepless nights for me,” Harvey tells his audience, taking a pause to hold back the tears. “I didn’t do any interviews until I could talk to the two people who were affected the most, Pia and Ariadna. No matter how tough it was for me, I can’t imagine how it was for these two women. This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure.”

“People don’t understand the damage of social media,” he adds, saying that “I can’t let my kids go nowhere.”

When he introduces Wurtzbach, she comes out wearing her Miss Universe sash and greeting Harvey with a big hug. “Steve was there throughout all the rehearsals,” she says immediately, shooting down theories that Harvey’s flub was due to a lack of preparation. “I don’t know where that rumor came from, but I can tell you this: He was there throughout everything.”
