What would happen if one day a person woke up and discovered he or she was a descendant of royalty? This isn't a description of "Princess Diaries 3," it's the real-life story of David Drew Howe, an auto parts advisor who, after researching his family history online, found out he is the heir to the throne of the British Isle of Man.

The main challenge for the fish-out-of-water family is to find a new home and a way to afford it. Looking for a house fit for a royal family, with "sweeping staircases" and "columns" is definitely never something they had on their to-do list, and difficult to soak in as their new reality.

In Zap2it's exclusive clip, Pam marvels, "We can fit out entire house in Maryland just in the foyer." And upon seeing the huge dining room table, Dave can't help but imagining it being lined with pizza boxes, and "some hot wings, some breadsticks," of course.

Doesn't exactly sound a like a meal fit for a King, but he's trying!

"Suddenly Royal" follows the Howe family, including his wife, Pam, and 12-year-old daughter, Grace, as they move 3,000 miles away from their home in Frederick, Md., to their ancestor's land, where Dave is now king.

The transition has been anything but smooth, and locals are slow to accept this new blue-collar American crew as their royal family. But the Howe's are trying their best to make the motorcycle capital of the world their home. They've hired an etiquette coach, and are attempting to lean the native Gaelic language known as Manx, even though only 2 percent of the population have any knowledge of the language.

New episode airs Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
