It's tough for reporters these days to get an honest shake, considering all the "fake news" out there, and that's exactly Kara's (Melissa Benoist) plight in this new "Supergirl" sneak peek.

When a string of alien abductions crop up in National City, Kara has to put the cape away to do some serious digging on the journalistic side of her double identity. Her only problem? An editor who wants more than a few quotes from a questionable source -- we've all been there, girl.

It just so happens this "source" turns out to be Supergirl herself (shocker), so Kara arranges an exclusive interview between Supergirl and Snapper. How she plans to introduce the two without being in two places at the same time is a mystery. Maybe she can borrow Barry's (Grant Gustin) speed mirage trick from "The Flash?"

In other news -- none of which is fake -- "Supergirl" is about to get even more awesome with the addition of "Lois & Clark's" Teri Hatcher in Monday's (March 6) episode. Did you ever imagine we'd get Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher back on our screens together? What a time to be alive!

Showrunner Andrew Kreisberg has nothing but wonderful things to say about Hatcher's decision to join the cast, teasing a totally new character for "Supergirl,"

"We've known Dean for a long time now, and we're just getting to know Teri," Kreisberg says. "In the best examples of the legacy casting that we do, whether it's John Wesley Shipp or Helen Slater, Lynda Carter -- all of them, to a person, are so proud of the contribution that they made in the past, and are so proud and happy to be part of our show moving forward. ...We didn't know Teri before this casting process, and she's turned out to be the exact same way. She is in this for the fans, and knows what her being a part of this means to so many people. They're both really excited to give back."

As far as who (or what) Hatcher's character in "Supergirl" will be, it's still a total mystery.

"What's so amazing is, she is so not playing Lois -- and she is so not playing any character I've ever seen her play before," Kreisberg teases. "She's so not Susan from 'Desperate Housewives.' She's really playing something completely different than was in her repertoire of all the things that's she's ever done, and she's doing it amazingly."

It sounds to us like Hatcher might be playing someone a little more nefarious than we're used to. Whether this intense new character will be on Kara's (Melissa Benoist) side or working against her remains to be seen.

Whatever the case, we just hope "Supergirl" finds a way to have this new character share a scene with Jeremiah, so we can have the "Lois & Clark" pseudo-reunion we've been dying for since the news broke of Hatcher's involvement -- and yes, according to Kreisberg, "There's a plan" for a scene between Cain and Hatcher to make its way to onto the show. Victory!

"Supergirl" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
