Though Mary Murphy isn’t sitting on the judges panel in “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 12, some fans of the FOX dance competition series were hoping she and her “hot tamale train” would return for its 10th anniversary special on Tuesday (July 21). They went away from the hour-long episode empty-handed, and weren’t too pleased about it.
FOX cut Murphy from “SYTYCD” before Season 12, which sees Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo judging. At the time, her spokesperson told TVLine her “option was not renewed” and that she’s “saddened, of course, to be released from my contract.”
Though Murphy didn’t appear during the special, sizzle reels of previous years’ highlights did include her on the judges table. Some viewers thought she should have been included in the taping of the episode.
The “SYTYCD: A Decade of Dance Special Edition” brought back fan-favorite dancers and choreographers to highlight some of the best moments of the series’ decade on the air.
Fortunately for fans who want to travel down “So You Think You Can Dance” memory lane with Murphy, she’s been using the entire week to think fondly back at the show’s 10 years of existence. Her Twitter page is full of throwback photos and “SYTYCD” highlights.
“So You Think You Can Dance” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
