Ted Cruz

What’s a Republican presidential candidate to do when he finds out his latest attack ad features a porn star? Well, if you’re Ted Cruz, you quickly pull the ad and pretend it never existed. The Internet never forgets though — and neither does the adult film actress who wonders where her commercial went.

Amy Lindsay, who has appeared in softcore pornography movies, as well as films like “Camp Takota” and on the TV series “Star Trek: Voyager,” landed a role in the commercial after going through the audition process. It wasn’t until the “Conservatives Anonymous” ad — which takes aim as fellow Republican Marco Rubio — debuted that anyone realized her adult film career.

In a statement to Buzzfeed, the Cruz campaign claims, “The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad.”

The ad was quickly pulled — though you can still see it above — which was a move that did not sit well with Lindsay. “Extremely disappointed the #TedCruz campaign pulled the national television spot I had a role in,” she tweets. Lindsay also promises she has more thoughts to come on the issue.

At the moment the website supporting the ad remains live on the Cruz campaign website, but simply features a broken video.
