Two central characters of “The 100” are Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) and her mother Abby (Paige Turco). But despite being mother and daughter, the two have barely shared the screen together on the show after Clarke was sent to Earth in the Season 1 premiere. Will the characters be reunited in Season 2? Yes, says executive producer Jason Rothenberg — but it won’t be easy.
“Abby and Clarke, that’s a long time coming,” Rothenberg tells Zap2it. “That’s the whole first season. When it happens, they haven’t seen each other since [early in Season 1].
It’s one that I’m very much looking forward to people seeing. It’s very
It also isn’t straightforward, as Clarke is now more or less being held hostage by Anya, one of the leaders of the Grounders.
“Clarke is on a journey that may lead her home. She’s stuck with
someone who’s not going to be so cooperative,” says Rothenberg. “There may be some turns
before she finds her way home. But stay tuned. A lot of this season is about reunions. It’s about getting home and about getting back to each other. The story dictates the right time to do it.”
Turco says that Abby will “do pretty much anything” to find Clarke, but Taylor says Clarke may not welcome her mom with the open arms Abby is hoping for.
“I think that there’s a lot of mixed emotions when it comes to … a reunion with her mom,” says Taylor. “Obviously they need to deal with the fact that, you know, her mom is responsible for her dad’s death. Kind of a heavy subject. But there’s also having that comfort on the ground would probably also be very overwhelming [for Clarke], so I think it’s going to be interesting.”
“The 100” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
