“The 100” creator Jason Rothenberg and six cast members — Marie Avgeropoulos, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Lindsey Morgan, Adina Porter, Paige Turco and Eliza Taylor — took the stage at the 2016 TCA winter press tour Sunday (Jan. 10) to discuss the upcoming third season.
Rothenberg confirmed that they are quite far along in the process — “I’m writing the finale. We’re shooting the finale of Season 3, so we’re deep into the process.” — but he also offered up the tidbit that he knows how the series ends, when that day eventually comes.
“I know where I want the show to end, I kind of know what I want the final story to be and where I want these people to end up at the end,” says Rothenberg. “I don’t know how long that’s going to take. I’m not going to sit here and say I want to do the show for as long as I can do it. i want to do it as long as it’s interesting to me and creatively I feel like we’re not repeating ourselves and so far, I feel like that’s where we are.”
He adds that he knows what Season 4 looks like and whenever the network does decide “The 100” is ending, he can wrap things up the way he wants.
“Good lord willing we get to Season 4, we have a good idea of what we want that story to be,” says Rothenberg. “And if they said this is it, wrap it up, we could make this idea I have right now for the wrap up happen at the end of Season 4. Or 5. Or 8.”
“The 100” returns Thursday, Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
