“The Flash” is bringing Wally West, better known in the comic book series as Kid Flash, into the fold for Season 2.
“Insurgent” star Keiynan Lonsdale has landed the role of the Kid Flash, who according to Warner Brothers Television will be joining Barry (Grant Gustin) and his friends this winter.
“Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show,” says executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.
In the comic book series, Wally is the nephew to Iris (Candice Patton) who gets his powers after a visit to the Central City police laboratory when the freak accident that gave Barry his speedster powers repeats itself.
In “The Flash’s” current timeline, Iris doesn’t have any siblings, let alone a nephew. However, the wormhole that opened above Central City in the Season 1 finale has opened up the Flash multi-verse, which will allow producers to bring in characters from different iterations and timelines of “The Flash” comic book series.
