'The Flash' and 'Supergirl'

After rumors of a crossover between “The Flash” and “Supergirl” swept across the Internet over Thanksgiving, many fans were left wondering if it were an actual possibility. After all, the two shows air on different networks.

As it turns out, that rumor was exactly that: a rumor. Speaking to Zap2it and a group of press at a screening of the “Arrow”-“The Flash” crossover event, executive producer Greg Berlanti says “No” when asked whether discussions about a crossover have begun.

“Only because we just received the pickup [for more ‘Supergirl’ episodes],” he explains. “Not at this point.”

The wording of Berlanti’s answer tells a very interesting story. While it seems there are currently no plans for Grant Gustin’s Flash to drop by “Supergirl,” he’s careful to say that’s “not at this point.”

With that in mind, a crossover between the two shows definitely remains within the realm of possibility. Given the tone of “The Flash,” it certainly would fit nicely in the world of “Supergirl.” Whether that happens this season or later in its run — if it ends up happening at all — it’s going to be a special sight to behold.
