Jeff Garlin is always a fun panel guest at the TCA summer press tour. In 2015, he was asked about how much time his character Murray spends in his underwear on the show. Garlin says sometimes he doesn’t feel the tighty-whities are necessary.
“There have been times where I have said and it has gone upstairs [to the producers], ‘Jeff doesn’t feel it’s necessary in this scene for him to be in his underwear,'” says Garlin. “And nine out of ten times, they’ll go, ‘OK.’ But most of the time … it all makes sense. I’m just letting you know. So I’m good and I’ll do it.”
Garlin adds that he if he does have to be in his underwear, he prefers to just start the scene that way.
“I can say that I much enjoy my underwear scenes where they start with me sitting in the chair than the ones where I come in the front door and I drop them, because I got to do that over and over and I don’t like bending over,” says Garln. “You know, so I got to bend over and put my pants on again … and there’s always the kicking off. It’s physically demanding. And I’m not a big fan of that. I’m a big napper.”
Garlin also regaled the audience with a magical story about the evolution of his tighty-whities wardrobe on the show, featured below in Zap2it’s gallery.
