If we weren't already diehard 'Bonenzo' fans after Season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries," one chat with Michael Malarkey would have surely tipped the vote.

After being tragically separated in last year's finale, Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) are both trying their best to get back to each other, but as is always the case in Mystic Falls, supernatural forces are conspiring against them.

Now, Enzo's under the control of a mind-controlling siren, and he's barely keeping it together.

Luckily, we'll get a reunion between the two characters in Friday's (Oct. 28) episode, but it doesn't sound like romance is on the agenda for this little meeting.

"We do see that they come face to face in the upcoming episode, and he’s basically not able to say the full extent of the situation," Malarkey says. "It’s a conversation that takes place where he’s kind of trying to hint at things and hoping that she picks up on it."

Given that Bonnie managed to pick up on his super-stealthy siren clues, we're not worried about her figuring out Enzo's secret message a second time around. We are worried, however, about the possibility that even if this couple comes back together eventually, they might not stay that way.

Kat Graham hinted earlier this year that a big death is coming our way in the final season of "The Vampire Diaries," and for the moment, Enzo is ranked at the top of our deadpool.

We'll be biting our nails over this looming death headed our way in Season 8, but we're crossing our fingers that both Bonnie and Enzo manage to make it out alive. After all the witchy craziness Bonnie's been put through -- not to mention decades of torture for Enzo -- it would be a shame if either of them had to suffer another huge loss.

"When he found Bonnie it was like finally he’s found something that is honest and true and real; a relationship that’s real that he can hold on to," Malarkey says. "For him, a happy ending would be to get rid of all this bulls**t and be able to be with her and be happy."

"The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
