Christina Aguilera knows exactly what she's doing on "The Voice." When Joe Maye took the stage as the final blind audition on the March 8 episode to treat the coaches to a rendition of "I Put a Spell On You" by Jay Hawkins, Aguilera and Blake Shelton were the only two chairs to spin around.
Before Shelton had the chance to make his case, Aguilera admitted the song was a favorite of hers and decided to duet with Maye. What followed was a perfect impromptu performance between the two vocal powerhouses that easily swayed Maye's decision.
After wrapping up the performances -- and earning a standing ovation from the audience and Aguilera's fellow coaches -- Maye chose her as his coach. When in doubt, jump on stage to sing with a contestant. That's a sure-fire way to make them love you even more. Just ask Adam Levine, who did it last week.
Now NBC just needs to get to work and release that duet as a single. Regardless of how far Maye makes it in the competition, that's a track that needs to live forever.
