Jeffrey Dean Morgan

The following contains spoilers for the comic book version of “The Walking Dead.”

At long last, Negan is coming to “The Walking Dead” and a familiar face will be playing him. “Supernatural” and “The Good Wife” fan favorite Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in the maniacal role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The character, introduced in issue #100 of the graphic novel, has become a mainstay villain for Rick Grimes and the group of survivors. Upon his arrival he makes a huge impact, killing Glenn with his prized possession Lucille — a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire.

Given the mystery currently surrounding whether or not the TV version of Glenn (Steven Yeun) is alive, the impending arrival of Negan gives hope to many fans that he survived the walker onslaught. Still, if he did survive that means the end is possibly near for Glenn at the hands of Negan.

Negan will first appear on the Season 6 finale of “The Walking Dead,” which has just begun production. Morgan will then appear on the series as a regular in Season 6 as Negan and his group — the Saviors — wreak havoc on Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Alexandria and anyone that stands in their way.

“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
