A new promo for “The X-Files” has arrived and it’s ready to play on your real life fear of government conspiracy to get you to tune in.

The 30-second clip uses actual footage from people who saw mysterious lights over Los Angeles, Cal. on the night of Nov. 7. “What is this?” one asks, while another wonders, “Is it coming towards us?”

The official explanation of the light was a missile test conducted by the military. While it’s a believable explanation — and the most likely — Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) has a different idea.

“We must ask ourselves,” he says. “Are we truly alone? Or are we being lied to?”

Oh that Mulder, constantly reminding you that the truth is still out there. “The X-Files” returns Sunday, Jan. 24 on FOX. Consider yourself warned.
