You may know Topher Grace from “That ’70’s Show,” “Traffic” or even “Spider-Man 3.” But now, the 37-year-old actor is getting a lot of buzz surrounding his work on the latest episode of … “Seinfeld”?
Believe it or not, the classic ’90s sitcom about nothing is back, with a new nine-minute episode edited by Grace himself. The star’s source material is a handful of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” episodes that flirted with the notion of a “Seinfeld” reunion, and to paraphrase Larry David’s first sitcom: The results are real, and they’re spectacular.
“I edited all the ‘Seinfeld’ scenes from ‘Curb’ Season 7 into one episode,” Grace writes on his Facebook page alongside the video. “It’s more like a radio play, but if you sew together all the dialogue from audition scenes, read-throughs and rehearsals together … [it’s] a -nine-minute hint at what the plot of a reunion might have been.”
As fans of the actor might know, it’s not Grace’s first foray into editing. In 2012, he made headlines by editing the three Star Wars prequels into one 85-minute movie, which was acclaimed by those invited to see it.
Topher Grace’s “reunion” episode has Jerry and the gang addressing such post-’90s staples as iPhone apps and GPS devices. It also has all the trademark music and editing techniques fans have come to know and love.
Will a proper “Seinfeld” reunion ever occur? It’s hard to predict, but perhaps the next thing Topher Grace could get to work on is a script.
