Tracy Morgan returned to the Emmy Awards stage Sunday (Sept. 20), 15 months after the tragic car accident that left one man dead and Morgan in a coma. In his Emmys speech, he was poignant, grateful and, of course, brought the laughs. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
"Thank you, thank you so much. I miss you guys so much," says Morgan. "Last year Jimmy Kimmel said on the stage, we'll see you back here next year, Tracy Morgan.
"Well, Jimmy, thanks to my amazing doctors and the support of my family and my beautiful new wife, I'm here, standing on my own two feet and God bless all of you for your love, your prayers and the thoughts over the past 15 months."
Morgan goes on to say how honored he is to be there after suffering "a traumatic brain injury" that put him in a coma for eight days.
"When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn that I wasn't the one who messed up," Morgan quips, then he drops the hammer.
"Only recently have I started to feel like myself again, which means a whole lot of y'all women gonna get pregnant at the after-party."
Kimmel, Morgan's "30 Rock" co-stars Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski and many more could be seen laughing and wiping tears away. It was truly one of the best moments of the 2015 Emmys.
Backstage, Morgan posed for a photo with another "30 Rock" alum, "Mad Men" Emmy winner Jon Hamm, and reiterated how great it was to be back. Morgan was nominated for the supporting actor in a comedy Emmy in 2009 for "30 Rock."
