grinch ratings 12 25 14 TV ratings: 'Grinch' times two helps ABC win Christmas night

The Fast National ratings for Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, were predictably soft as TV viewers had other things to do Christmas night.
ABC led the night with a pair of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” specials — the animated version and the Jim Carrey movie. The other broadcast networks ran a mix of repeats and holiday specials as well, with CBS’ rerun lineup faring best and NBC in particular drawing a tiny audience.
ABC averaged 5.2 million viewers and a 2.5 rating/5 share in households for the night, beating out CBS (4.9 million, 3.0/5) for the lead. FOX (2.4 million, 1.5/3) came in third, followed by NBC (1.5 million, 1.0/2) and The CW (920,000, 0.6/1).
ABC’s 1.8 rating among adults 18-49 matched the combined total of the other four networks. CBS scored a 0.8, FOX a 0.5, NBC a 0.3 and The CW a 0.2.
