scorpion week 2 ratings TV ratings: 'Scorpion' and 'Gotham' hold up well, 'NCIS: LA' premieres down MondayFast National ratings for Monday, Sept. 29, 2014

There was good news and bad news for CBS in Monday night’s ratings. The good news is that rookie drama “Scorpion” stayed strong in its second week, holding nearly all of its premiere audience despite having a smaller lead-in with a “Big Bang Theory” repeat.

The bad news is that “NCIS: Los Angeles” struggled some in its new home, premiering well below its ratings on Tuesday last season and finishing third in the 10 o’clock hour.

Elsewhere Monday, “Gotham” held up pretty well for FOX, retaining 87 percent of its adults 18-49 rating from last week. “The Voice” was steady for NBC, but “The Blacklist” dropped some. “Castle’s” premiere was up from a year ago, pending updates for a couple of ABC affiliates that carried “Monday Night Football.”

CBS led a tight viewer race with 12.3 million people tuning in and a 7.6 rating/12 share in households. ABC (12.2 million, 8.0/13) and NBC (12.05 million, 7.2/11) were right behind. FOX (6.2 million, 3.6/6) came in fourth, and The CW (914,000, 0.6/1) trailed.

NBC won the adults 18-49 race with a 3.5 rating. CBS finished second with a 2.9. FOX took third with a 2.3, edging ABC’s 2.1. The CW posted a 0.3.
