utopia premiere ratings TV ratings: 'Utopia' opens soft; 'Reckless' up; NFL Sunday football big for NBCFast National ratings for Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014

Sunday night football opened big for NBC, though it was down from the premiere game a year ago. However, the Broncos jumped out to a 24-0 lead over the Indianapolis Colts, which may have caused some viewers to change the channel.

Elsewhere, FOX’s new reality show “Utopia” opened with weak premiere numbers. The first hour drew 5.3 million, but the second hour fell to 3.9 million. Over on CBS, “Big Brother” was down slightly, while “Unforgettable” and “Reckless” were both up, the latter hitting a series high in total viewers.

NBC won easily with 18 million viewers and a 10.7 rating/18 share in households. FOX was second with 8 million and a 4.8/8, but those numbers are boosted by NFL overrrun in the 7 p.m. hour. CBS was third with 6.7 million and a 4.2/7 and ABC trailed with 2.5 million and a 1.6/3.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, the order remained the same — NBC won with a 6.7 rating, followed by FOX (3.2), CBS (1.3) and ABC (0.8).
