Charlie Tahan on Wayward Pines

FOX had a few tidbits about the fate of “Wayward Pines” at the 2015 TCA summer press tour Thursday (Aug. 6), including that showrunner Chad Hodge is not returning.

“We need a new showrunner,” says Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Gary Newman. “I know [executive producer M. Night Shyamalan] has someone in mind, he’s not prepared to announce yet.”

As for announcing whether the show will return, that is based on Shyamalan and author Blake Crouch. “We’re waiting to hear a pitch from them,” says Newman.

“In an ideal world, we would be making that decision relatively soon,” says Newman, adding that they’d love to run Season 2 next summer. “Ideally we’d like to bring it back right where we had it this year, because it really had a pretty great season.”
