What was once a show about a quirky girl who moves in with three single guys is now really more about all the dynamics in a group of friends. Tuesday’s (Nov. 4) “New Girl” decided to reflect the series’ ensemble vibe by debuting new opening credits featuring the whole team.
“New Girl” creator Liz Meriwether seemed to know fans might be a bit resistant to the change and tweeted a warning about the new titles before their launch. While it is understandable the credits were changed to include Hannah Simone (Cece) and Damon Wayans Jr. (Coach), was it really necessary to revamp them?
We also changes our main titles to include Damon and Hannah. Don’t get mad at me. I don’t know how to do good main titles. I barely shower.

There was a certain charm to the old titles — which reflected the lovable quirkiness of Jess (Zooey Deschanel) and her roommates Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris) — that the new sequence lacks. No matter what, the show started with Jess and there is just not enough of her in the new opening.
