Lily Rabe is jumping networks to go from one creepy drama to another when she premieres on ABC’s “The Whispers” later this spring. Viewers may recognize her from a number of roles on the various seasons of FX’s horror anthology series “American Horror Story,” which she says has been so much fun — but does require a level of trust in creator Ryan Murphy.
“Each year is different. But I trust Ryan completely,” says Rabe. “Every woman that I’ve played on that show has been so incredibly different from the next. With that show in particular, you really have to put your trust into Ryan, but it’s an easy thing to do.”
Rabe reprised her Season 2 role for a one-shot episode in the current season, “Freak Show,” which she calls “a real treat,” because she thought when they wrapped “Asylum,” she’d never get to put Sister Mary Eunice’s habit again.
But will she join “American Horror Story’s” fifth season if “The Whispers” allows for it?
“I love being on ‘American Horror Story’ and … I can’t answer that question,” says Rabe with a laugh. Viewers will just have to wait and see if Murphy has a part for her and if the shows can work it out.
