More good news for ‘X-Files’ fans: FOX announced Tuesday (Aug. 11) that original series alum Annabeth Gish (“Pretty Little Liars,” “Sons of Anarchy”) will reprise her role as Agent Monica Reyes in the upcoming miniseries.
Gish joined the series in Season 8, when Agent Reyes was introduced as a friend of Agent John Dogget (Robert Patrick). The two eventually partnered up to work on the X-Files in Mulder’s absence. Like the believer-vs.-skeptic dynamic between Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson), Reyes is the “believer” and Dogget the more hardened skeptic.
In addition to Gish and her character Agent Reyes, other “X-Files” alums booked for the new series include: The Lone Gunmen (Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood and Dean Haglund), The Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) and Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi). Newcomers to the cast include: Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Joel McHale and Kumail Nanjiani.
“The X-Files” premieres Jan. 24, 2016 on FOX.
